Only 3 miles away! Known as "America's Aussie Adventure," the Center exhibits over 250 kangaroos of eight species, the largest collection of kangaroos outside of Australia. Guided tours include a ride on the "KangaRanger" truck thru the Georgia Outback to view kangaroos living in natural habitats and a prime seat for the "Wild Australia" show, where visitors meet animals up close and personal. Visitors can be immersed in an Australian forest in the "Billabong Encounter," surrounded by plants, birds, lizards and mammals native to that region. Hiking fans will enjoy a 1/4 mile "Aussie Walkabout" path which meanders around the pastoral kangaroo exhibits in the NorthGeorgiaMountains and the 1/4 mile "FernValley Trail.". "The Aussie Outpost" Giftshop offers for sale a complete selection of high-quality collectibles with an Australian theme, as well as light snacks to enjoy in the beautiful butterfly garden picnic area.
Note: While no strenuous activity is required to participate in the tour, visitors should be capable of and expect a fair amount of walking. Some grassy, uneven slopes may be encountered. Picnicking is permitted. Snacks are available. Comfortable clothing and shoes for walking are recommended. Smoking is not permitted. Allow 3 hours minimum. Tues.-Sat. Mar.-Nov; closed some holidays. Tours are generally given at 10:15 and 1:15, however times may vary, and guests should call or check online schedule. Guests should arrive a minimum of 15 minutes before the start of a tour.
