Waterfalls & Picnic Spots

Visit Amicalola Falls State Park ust 5 minutes away. The tallest waterfall east of the Mississippi.

Easy viewing is available by driving to the bottom of the falls by the reflection pool or by driving to the top where a short walk takes you to the top of the falls with a great mountain view.

Walking the built in steps alongside the waterfall can be challenging and fun.

A beautiful spot for a picnic and perfect for a hike with well marked trails through the North Georgia Mountains. A playground is located at the entrance to the park for kids and if you’re feeling really adventurous this is also the beginning of the Appalachian trail…the hike to Maine starts here! Dahlonega and Lumpkin County are the heart of Georgia’s mountain Lakes and waterfalls region.

65A1009 Edge of the world 800Located about 10 minutes from Forrest Hills this has become a favorite picnic spot. Parts of this riverside trail are ADA compliant. Picnic lunches are available through Forrest Hills for couples, families and groups.

There are several waterfalls in Dahlonega (Lumpkin County) and many more within an hour’s drive should you feel like taking a scenic tour.
