Choose the Stay That Fits Your Family

Every family travels a little differently. Maybe you just need a comfortable room to come back to after a full day of exploring. Maybe you'd like extra living space where everyone can spread out. Or maybe your idea of a mountain vacation includes a private cabin, fireplace and hot tub.

At Forrest Hills, you can choose the accommodations that work best for your family and your budget.

Family Cabins

For families looking for the classic North Georgia cabin experience, our family cabins give you your own private place to settle in and relax.

Deluxe Double Cabins

These cozy, open-floor-plan cabins feature two queen beds, a sleeper sofa, wood-burning fireplace, kitchenette, covered porch with swing and private hot tub. They accommodate up to six guests and are also pet-friendly.

Because the sleeping and living areas share an open floor plan, these cabins are especially well suited to families who don't require separate bedrooms.

Two-Bedroom Cabin

Need more privacy?

Our approximately 1,200-square-foot Two-Bedroom Cabin includes two private king bedrooms, bathrooms, an additional half bath, full kitchen, living room with daybed and trundle, gas-log fireplace and dedicated hot tub room.

It's a great choice when parents and kids — or two generations traveling together — want to vacation together without giving up separate sleeping spaces.

Lodge-Style Hotel Rooms

Sometimes simple is exactly what you need.

Our lodge-style hotel rooms are a comfortable choice for families who plan to spend their days exploring the resort and North Georgia and don't need all the extras of a cabin or suite.

You'll still be right here at Forrest Hills Resort, close to dining, activities and everything else the property has to offer.

Spacious Two-Story Suites - Mountain Laurel Inn

Want a little more room to spread out?

Our two-story suites offer approximately 1,200 square feet of space on two levels, making them a great choice for families who appreciate having separate areas to sleep and relax.

Each suite includes a private master bedroom downstairs with a king bed, jetted tub and private balcony. Upstairs you'll find an additional king bed, sitting area with futon, gas fireplace, kitchenette, TV and shared balcony.

Each suite accommodates up to five guests.

Please note: These suites have a full flight of stairs between the first and second floors, something families with very young children or guests with mobility concerns may want to consider when choosing accommodations.

From time together at the resort to adventures in the North Georgia mountains, there’s more to a family vacation here than simply finding a place to sleep.

There's Plenty to Do Without Leaving the Resort

One of the best parts of staying at Forrest Hills is that you don't have to load everyone into the car every time you want something to do.

Spend a slower day at the resort and enjoy time together with activities such as:

  • Seasonal saltwater swimming pool

  • Pickleball

  • Walking trails

  • Horseshoes

  • Volleyball

  • Arcade games

  • Outdoor spaces to explore and relax

And because the resort is spread across 140 wooded acres, there's plenty of room to enjoy the North Georgia mountain setting.

Go Horseback Riding — Right Here!

Make one day of your family vacation a mountain adventure.

Dahlonega Carriage & Horseback Rides is independently owned and operated and conveniently located right at Forrest Hills Resort. Guided trail rides take riders through wooded North Georgia scenery, with one-hour, two-hour and half-day rides available.

Children must be at least 8 years old to ride horseback. (Some exceptions may apply)

For younger children — or families who would simply rather sit back and enjoy the scenery — a 30-minute horse-drawn carriage ride is another fun way to experience the resort.

Family Dining Without Leaving the Resort

After a day of exploring, you don't necessarily have to head back into town for dinner. Overnight rates are typically available with or without breakfast.

The Hideaway Dining Room at Forrest Hills Resort welcomes families and is open to both resort guests and the public. Enjoy casual favorites including hand-tossed pizza, burgers, fried chicken, steak, salmon and more.

And on Sunday, gather the family for our popular Sunday Brunch Buffet from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

Dining hours vary by day and season, so check our dining page for current hours before your stay.

Bringing the Dog?

Your four-legged family members don't necessarily have to stay home.

Our Deluxe Double Cabins are pet-friendly and allow up to two dogs under 40 pounds each. A $25 per dog, per night pet fee applies.

Dogs must be kept on a leash while on resort property and should preferably be crated if left unattended in the cabin.

A Note for Families with Young Children

Several of our family cabins include private hot tubs. Hot tubs are not covered or locked, so close adult supervision is essential when traveling with young children.

If you would be more comfortable without water in the hot tub during your stay, please ask us about having it drained.

Make Forrest Hills Your Family's Home Base in North Georgia

Some family vacations are packed from morning until night. Others are better when there's time to slow down.

At Forrest Hills Resort, you can do a little of both.

Ride horses through the woods. Explore a waterfall. Pan for gold. Spend an afternoon at the pool. Have pizza for dinner. Sit together on the porch. Then settle in for the evening and decide what tomorrow's adventure will be.

And because you can choose from rooms, spacious two-story suites and private family cabins, you can make the trip as simple — or as comfortable and spacious — as your family wants it to be.

Forrest Hills has been welcoming guests to the North Georgia mountains since 1977, and our family still owns and operates the resort today.

Come to the mountains, settle in and spend some time together.
