My daughter found this Beautiful Resort and we rode up in March 2021 and Levi took us on a tour and we booked it right... away for her wedding on November 20 2021. Well needless to say she got married Sat 11-20-2021 and it was just amazing. Great food,staff,location. We booked the Deer Trail Lodge ,8 bedrooms (2 Queens beds in each room) own private bathroom.,full kitchen and much more....just beautiful....definitely would recommend.read more

The resort was eh at best, but the staff was nice. The food was adequate, but not very flavorful nor exciting. The... cabin was comfortable, but very out dated and unfinished (there were several plywood walls in the hot tub room). For the price in a location so far from Dahlonega, we expected a view, but we were sadly disappointed. Also, I got the feeling my parents could have stayed in the same cabin with the exact same decor from 1973. The complementary wine was nice, but the glasses still had wine residue in them. The massage was relaxing, if you ignore the general filthiness of the spa. If you're not used to staying in resort with 5 star accommodations, the Forrest Hills Mountain Resort is probably better than the local Holiday Inn because of the included extras. I barely give it 3 stars, but the owners seem to be trying and deserve some credit.If you are looking for a place to stay for the weekend, I'd pass and only consider it if nothing else is available.read more

I wish I could give more stars. This is the best place my family and I have eve stayed. We booked the bears lodge it... was clean comfortable and the staff was great. We loved the location it was beautiful. A hearty full hot breakfast served by amazing people was so comforting. A visit from the local cats after breakfast was sweet. Thank you Forrest Hills we are already looking to plan a future visit.read more

Very peaceful atmosphere. We stayed in a Cabin. Rustic, yet quaint. If you want peace, privacy, rustic atmosphere,... this is the place. It is not luxury. It is a cabin in the woods. Restaurant buffet breakfast was very good and the staff is very nice.read more

Our elopment/wedding ceremony and stay here could not have been anymore perfect. The front office staff and Jackie... were the best and helpful in every way possible. Our cabin was just beautiful and spacious; nice living and kitchen area. And the plush bath towels, Bee Kind bath products and roomy shower!!! The hot tub and fireplace made for a cozy weekend! Our porch looked out into deep woods and there was a swing. So nice to just sit and have a cup of tea and hear only the sounds of the forest. This was the most amazing vacation my husband and I have ever had. We stayed for 8 nights and were doing things the... entire time. The resort made booking so easy it took most of the stress of planning out. Just let the staff know what you are interested in and they will take care of almost everything and go through your itinerary with you on arrival. Love love love staying here! I absolutely loved Jackie and the other ladies at the front desk!! They were all super helpful, accommodating and so... sweet!! We stayed in the tree top lodge and it could not have been more perfect!! It was decorated perfectly and had new appliances and finishing throughout!! The grounds of the resort were also jaw droppingly beautiful!! We ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant on-site all employees were attentive to detail, the food was extremely well priced and so tasty!! We will definitely be back again ❤️❤️read more

I found this gem while researching for a place to accommodate all my must haves for a wedding venue. They were able to... provide us with exceptional service and so much more. From beginning to the end of the experience Levi was a tremendous help and made sure my husband and I were comfortable. We stayed in the two-two bedroom cabins side by side. It was an amazing experience and we dreaded checking out.This is a wonderful place to have a wedding. The Secret Garden was a beautiful space and paired with a horse and carriage made all my dreams come true.read more

I took a group of 30 to Forest Hills in late June. We had a phenomenal time. The staff was very accommodating for our... group, even changing the menu at the restaurant one night. The staff checked in regularly to see that our needs were met. The restaurant staff was great dealing with a large group of teenagers. This was truly the best retreat venue I’ve ever used. We stayed at the Tree Topper which has been newly renovated. The rooms were spacious and very nice. It is also very close to Amicalola Falls which we hiked up to see. We will be staying here again for sure! My kids had plenty to do on the property between the basketball courts and the pools and the many trails surrounding the plantation.read more

Front office girl Maya was very helpful!! She scheduled a cabin and horseback riding for my girlfriend and I. She has... extremely good customer service skills!Our actual cabin was fantastic!! It was very clean and well thought out. A little on the pricy side but would defiantly stay again.Our 1 hour horse back ride was amazing though the historic mountain side. Our guide Riley was amazing and would recommend her. If you can pick, I would 100% recommend riding the horse “moonshine”.read more

The staff is friendly, the food is delicious, and the room was clean. The bed was very comfortable. I could not have... been any more pleased with my stay. I had read some of the negative reviews and I have no idea what they are talking about. Maybe they went out to the woods expecting the Ritz. This place is a cozy wooded mountain retreat with friendly people, good food, and plenty of comfort. Get a massage while your there, that was great, too!read more

We stayed in one of the cupid cabins for our honeymoon, and it was absolutely wonderful. The cabin decor was nice, the... space was more than sufficient for the two of us, the bed was great, and the hot tub was absolutely amazing. We did have to fiddle with the gas fireplace to get it up and running, but the directions they'd sent us in advance were sufficient to get it up and running as well. Morning breakfasts were good, the Sunday brunch was absolutely incredible (though we were there for Easter Sunday...so it might have been better than usual due to the holiday), and the dinner we had there was quite good.Highly recommend as a wonderful location for a couples getaway. We will definitely be back, and we may shoot for a family trip there with the kids sometime as well.read more

From the first call to book, Jackie (reservations) was more than excited to help and answer all of our questions about... the property. At check-in Brianna, front desk clerk, was polite and very helpful. The food was magnificent and the staff were friendly and available. The cabin was stunning and immaculate. The gift was amazing (wine and cheese). The hot tub was a bonus. The fireplace was just the right touch for the moment. My girlfriend and I came up to the resort back in October from Florida to get away from the heat and to see the autumn... leaves. We were not disappointed. We still think about that trip all the time and how romantic it was. The autumn foliage added to it. We enjoyed the breakfast and the personal couples dining room. Loved the garden and we appreciated one of the owners explaining the flowers. We also appreciated how they helped the cats. All in all, the service was great, the food was great, the scenery was great, the atmosphere was great. The beds were comfy. I highly recommend this place for a perfect getaway. From check in to check out this was an amazing stay! We stayed in Cupids Hideaway Cabin #17. It was clean, the bed... was amazingly comfortable and the hot tub was great. It started snowing so we opted to have our candlelit dinner at our cabin. Our steaks were very good, the entire meal was great. We had a couples massage and thoroughly enjoyed it. The grounds were beautiful, the employees were so nice and this trip was one we will remember. We cannot wait to come back!!read more

This our 4th time visiting in 5 years. We love this place. The food is excellent, the service is great. If there is... ANYTHING you need, call the front desk and they will take care of it right away. This time we even brought the dogs. And they had a bed for her too!We love the jacuzzi in the cabin, the beds are super comfortable, and the cabins are always at the perfect temperature summer or winter.read more

Our Cabin was perfectly set up for an excellent weekend getaway!We have stayed before in one of the Cupid's Hideaway... and really enjoyed it. This time we stayed in Love Bird 2, one of the Countryside Deluxe Cabins, with a wood burning fireplace and the jacuzzi just off to the side of the bed. This was an early Valentine's Day getaway, but was primarily used to be a financial planning weekend as we look towards retirement. Comfortable, quiet, and easy access to the rest of the facilities. We stay here every year for a post holiday getaway. Very relaxing and romantic! Clean, well kept cabins. Fireplace,... inside hot tub, flat screen TV, with mini fridge and microwave. No stove. They have a restaurant on site. They also have rooms that are not cabins. I do wish they had a broom and dust pan and a small vacuum in the cabins for cleaning up small messes.read more

We didn’t expect it to be so outdated and poorly maintained. We read several reviews and were expecting rustic with... charm. Our room in the Wilderness lodge was far from having any charm. The carpet was ripped and there was a smell of mold in the room. Paint was peeling on the ceiling and they had painted the toilet seat instead of replacing it. There is so much we could say about our stay that is negative. The one positive we had is that it was quiet. We don’t know what the other rooms looked like but ours was nothing like the reviews or pictures posted on their site. We would definitely not recommend this location.read more

My Husband and I stayed in a cabin here for 3 nights, and we had the most wonderful time! If you're looking for a truly... peaceful getaway, then this place is definitely for you! We got free breakfast with our cabin stay, and it wasn't your average free breakfast, it was a full hot breakfast. We saved money on dining because the breakfast was so good that we didn't feel the need to eat anywhere else. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and always excited to recommend places to visit while we were there. My husband and I have both been craving some time in nature, and this place gave us that! I see a lot of reviews suggesting making the place more upscale and less rustic, please don't do that. There's enough of that, and places like this are disappearing. All in all, we didnt need to go anywhere if we didn't want to, we had everything we needed there. If you read some of the other reviews, do not let them deter you from staying here. This is not a hotel right off of the interstate, this is a place perfectly nestled in nature. There are bugs and dirt in nature y'all.read more

Location was nice. Customer service accommodating but the Goldfinch cabin needed work. Broken items & a window next to... the bed that wouldn’t lock. Jacuzzi tub wouldn’t warm up & I jumped out after seeing a cockroach floating in there.. several minutes later another roach emerged from the wooded inside platform. It was too late & front desk was closed to ask for a room change. Slept w/lights on. Wasn’t relaxing. Hot morning breakfast was a nice treat. Dog-friendly but I wouldn’t stay here again. Definitely not worth the $265!read more

We had our youngest daughter's wedding at Forrest Hills and so happy we chose this location. The grounds are... well-maintained and there is plenty to do on site and in the surrounding area. The food at the resort and reception was excellent and the lodging, recently updated, was great for a family-type event. The staff, especially Angela, was friendly, helpful and gave life to the term "Southern hospitality." The wedding venue was lovely and we can't speak highly enough of the wedding coordinator Levi, who went above and beyond to make the day so very special for Becca and Ryan. Levi worked hard to address all our concerns and it was so nice to have someone who took care of all the details and has a knack for decorating and was so easy to work with. The room was clean, but it had a dehumidifier, which was appreciated since it was needed, except that it beeped when it was full in the middle of the night. We recently stayed with our two small children in the deer trail lodge. The staff was beyond excellent, rooms were very... clean!! We had delicious food delivered to our room by the restaurant on site! We walked the beautiful grounds and the kids loved playing in the game room. This place is out dated, and Very rustic looking.was not what the pictures describe. We arrived on a thursday.... Birthday celebration which at this point no-one was their. We felt very out of place,and a little paranoid. Why!? Well we drove in on dirt road all we see are rebel and TRUMP flags. So us being black you can 👀, why we felt a little out of place. What made the stay worth the trip was ,The food,horse back riding, and the massage.for activities you have to,travel at least one hours away. We came here for our honeymoon and it was everything we dreamed. On-site we had a hot breakfast everyday, a carriage... ride, picnic lunch packed by the resort, candlelit dinner, couples massage, visited the pool, and the gift shop. The food at the restaurant was absolutely amazing-we ordered the peach bourbon glazed salmon and coffee-rubbed pork chop as entrees for our candlelit dinner. The couples-only dining room is very nice. There is also SO much to do off-site in the area. We visited the small town of Ellijay with its charming town square, the Consolidated Gold Mine, Gibbs Gardens, Amicalola Falls, Dahlonega Ghost Tour, Dahlonega town square, and several local fruit farms off the side of the road. The Forrest Hills staff was very nice and accommodating throughout our stay. The cabin we stayed in was very spacious and had an outdoor swing on the deck with a table to eat outside on. Inside there was a fireplace, a comfy couch, and a TV with lots of channels. The cabin also had a small kitchenette with a small refrigerator/freezer, microwave, and dishes. Our cabin was very clean upon arrival and tastefully decorated. The private hot tub in our cabin was AMAZING. Our cabin was so remote and quiet that we often saw deer outside our windows in the mornings. Enjoy your time here because it will definitely fly by. We will be returning in the future for sure!read more

Check in online said 3 but couldn't check in until 4. Once we were checked in the horse stables were closing and... couldn't ride horses. Not a good place to stay for just one night because once you check in everything is closed and also the amenities they advertised were not available. I was told volley ball court was open but there's a pile if sand in the way so you cant play. The out door hot tubs were. closed because they only open then when there's a lot of people staying there. The food Togo and restaurants or dinners were closed. Property was grow up and not pleasant to the eye.read more

I chose Forrest Hills for my elopement wedding. What a beautiful place! It was all I wanted and dreamed of. The... surroundings are naturally decorated with flowers and beautiful landscape. The secret garden is where the ceremony was held at and it made it look so lovely and magical. The process was super easy and absolutely stress-free, which we loved! We chose what we wanted to add besides the ceremony during the booking, we had two phone calls to touch base regarding the ceremony, and it was all set. We also booked a cabin and it was great with its own hot tub. Family members stayed at one of the lodges, and it was very spacious and comfy. Food is also amazing and their staff are super friendly and attentive. If you're looking for a nice, lovely cabin resort in the mountains with amenities like spa, on-site restaurant, and natural surroundings, this is your place!read more

This resort went ABOVE and BEYOND any expectation we had going to Georgia. From the newly renovated duplex suite to the... kind and helpful staff we had an amazing stay here. Our room was beautiful and clean. Although no maid service available through COVID-19, they make sure to give you plenty of everything you may need. The restaurant is great and extremely convenient for this small town. The food is delicious and Granny's Fried Chicken was a hit with our whole family!! I highly recommend the horse back riding for the price, trails, and overall experience. We had such a great time the two days we were there we stayed an extra night to top it off!! We will be back sooner than expected and look forward to another peaceful retreat!!read more

It is a mountain resort so we were expecting it to be rustic. But the buildings and grounds are starting to deteriorate... and need some attention. We stopped by for breakfast and we... had missed it but the owner went out of his way to put together a to go box for my family. This was a last minute find for a birthday getaway fishing trip for my fiancé. We loved it! Everyone is super... accommodating and nice! And the prices is not bad. Love the look and feel of the countryside cabins. We stayed in caving 3. Had a little issues with the wall that the tv was plugged into not having power, but was a quick fix from the maintenance guy. The decor was highly outdated and it just felt old. Cobwebs hanging in all corners. The wall coverings were part old... time paneling and part wood - all chopped up. Doorway Entrance was not inviting- cabin #9. Breakfast was not great but the service was very nice. Fresh flowers on the tables every morning. No stove to cook on.... only had a microwave and a very nasty toaster oven. They had the table set up like you could cook in and eat there but no stove! The hot tub in the room got hot enough to relax but it had a draining feature so the next night there wasn’t enough water to turn on the keys and no way to fill it back up. Cabin #9 was right next to the conference center and another cabin. Didn’t feel private.read more

My husband and I stayed here for an early Valentines Day date. We had the best time. The ambiance was just incredible.... Private, peaceful, and fully accommodating weather you’re there for romance or a family stay! The staff was so charming, the food was wonderful, and even if all the activities they have to offer at the resort itself aren’t what you’re looking for, down town is less than 15 minutes away! Highly suggested for anyone!read more

I celebrated my 29th birthday here along with fiancé. I found Forrest Hills on a random google search and I’m ecstatic... that I booked a weekend retreat. We had the time of our life. Forrest Hills was the perfect background for a fairytale wedding in every season and guests love staying at the resort... too! From their cabins to their lodges there is a place for everyone to stay comfortably and happily. Breakfast was always delicious and the front office and their staff are some of the nicest people around. I have nothing but great things to say about this resort and Levi, the wedding coordinator, makes planning weddings so much better! My girlfriend and I spent last weekend in cabin 12. From the time we walked into the office on check in till I dropped... off the keys in the drop box it was an amazing experience! Everyone at the resort treated us like we were the only couple there. We took the horse back trail ride and had a great time! We have been to several big name resorts for stays but were never treated like family like we were at Forrest Hills! We will definitely be back and hope Lucy the dog is still there!!!!read more
